City of Umatilla
The City of Umatilla, a small community in central Florida, has been a client of Halff since 2007. Over the years, our engineers have contributed to numerous successful projects, while our Funding Resources team has become a go-to resource for the City.
One standout success is the Lake Ferns Industrial Park project, a major development that will enhance water and sewer capacity to support a growing industrial area. This project will attract new businesses, allow existing ones to expand and create around 300 new jobs — an essential step in Umatilla’s transition from an agriculture-based economy to a more diversified one.
Halff’s collaboration with the City has been integral to the success of the project. In addition to designing the infrastructure, our Funding Resources team secured two key grants for Umatilla. In 2023, the City was awarded $482,500 from the Rural Infrastructure Fund (RIF) to support Phase I of the project. The following year, Governor Ron DeSantis made a historic visit to Umatilla to present a $4.8 million grant through the Job Growth Grant Fund. These funds will directly support the Lake Ferns Industrial Park, enhancing Umatilla’s economy and quality of life for its residents.
